God’s name has been banished from the Democrat Party Platform for 2012. As first reported by CBN and now confirmed by accessing the actual Democrat Party Platform published on their website, the word “God” has been completely removed from the wording used in their national platform. God is not included at all in the DNC vision for America.
God was previously mentioned only once in the 2008 DNC party platform. He was recognized in this sentence:
“We need a government that stands up for the hopes, values, and interests of working people, and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential.”
That specific paragraph was rewritten and the words “God-given” have been removed. The sanitized version now reads as follows:
“We gather to reclaim the basic bargain that built the largest middle class and the most prosperous nation on Earth – the simple principle that in America, hard work should pay off, responsibility should be rewarded, and each one of us should be able to go as far as our talent and drive take us.”
In stark contrast the Republican Party platform refers to God ten different times. It starts with the Preamble where the party leadership reaffirms that:
“our rights come from God, are protected by government, and that the only just government is one that truly governs with the consent of the governed.
The GOP makes it clear that our individual rights come from God alone. This truth permeates the very Constitutional principles that define the uniqueness of this country and protect the freedoms of all Americans.
“We are the party of the Constitution, the solemn compact which confirms our God-given individual rights and assures that all Americans stand equal before the law.”
We should not be surprised that the Democrats are distancing themselves from God and His righteousness. After all His clear teachings and categorical commandments contradict most of secular-atheistic policies that the DNC presently cherishes, glorifies, and promotes.
The party that supports and defends unlimited abortion, taxpayer-funded abortions, partial-birth abortions, gay “marriage”, and the trampling of the religious liberties of all Americans (via the oppressive HHS mandate) is clearly not comfortable using the Lord’s name in its “inclusive” platform. Ironically enough, the leadership of the Democrat Party may be showing signs of some shame or guilt in distancing itself from the Almighty. On some level even they seem to recognize that their policies are not congruent with the moral law of their Creator and would never meet with His approval.
Update 9/5/2012 – DNC Brings God Back Without Majority Vote and Amidst Boos
Amidst boos, jeers, objections, and multiple votes, the DNC today reluctantly added back the “God-given” language in its platform. As reported by CBN:
This has become a disaster for the Democrats and a boon to the Romney campaign. The DNC has now added God back into their platform language after originally taking it out. They have also added language back in that says Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. When they tried to change the language on the convention floor, there were boos!
Strangely enough, the motion on the floor did not actually get the required 2/3 majority vote, despite multiple attempts by the chairman. Technically, the Democrats did not approve this correction to the platform by the needed 2/3 majority. See the video linked below and judge for yourself what unfolded.
Democrats have changed their convention platform to add a mention of God and declare that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. The move came after criticism from Republicans.
Many in the audience booed after the convention chairman, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, ruled that the amendments had been approved despite the fact that a large group of delegates objected.
He called for a vote three times before ruling.
The party reinstated language from the 2008 platform that said “we need a government that stands up for the hopes, values and interests of working people and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential.” (Associated Press)
I read your article which illuminates us about how you can bend the truth even when it’s obvious. They are desperate to win and could care less about God and the people. I want so much that Christian America to lead the world again, but without God nothing is possible. Good job Chris shake them up.
